Dear SEES Basketball parents,

Over the past few days we have received word that both the Governor and the Diocese of Richmond are in support of league basketball play. We have also learned that a few of our fellow Catholic schools will be joining us in league play as well. What does this mean for SEES? It means that we can now pivot back to our original plans for grade level basketball in both the Benedictine and St. Gertrude Leagues.

We will be hosting intrasquad scrimmages this Friday to determine an A team at the 7th/8th grade boys level as well as evaluating the remaining 7th/8th grade boys and the 5th and 6th grade boys so that we can make sure that the teams are fair. All new grade level teams will be sent out per Teamsnap on Friday afternoon. Below you will find the breakdown of league divisions and game times for this Friday. Some teams will not be playing this Friday, but will be scheduled at a later date. Unfortunately, due to our gym size and Covid-19 restrictions we will only be allowing coaches and players into the gym for games. Also, please note that if you have not had a practice yet, please be patient as coaches are still working out their schedules.

BOYS – League Information 

5th grade boys – 2 teams in the JVB division of the Benedictine League

6th grade boys – 2 teams n the JVB division of the Benedictine League

7th/8th grade boys – 3 teams in the VB division of the Benedictine League

7th/8th grade boys – 1 team in the VA division of the Benedictine League

Sign ups for the 3rd and 4th graders close tonight, November 2 at midnight. Your coaches will be reaching out to each team as soon as new teams are set up. We are looking for coaches for our 3rd/4th grade teams. Please reach out to Mr. Andrew if you would be willing to coach or indicate it on the registration form.

The SEES HSA is excited to host our first ever Student Halloween Carnival! This event will take place during the school day on October 30, 2020 and will replace our Fall Festival that is typically attended by students, their families and our community members.

Students in ALL Grades will participate in a day filled with fun activities including the following:

• FREE Student Halloween Wear Tag Day (no costumes please)
• Classroom Door Decorating Contest
• Class Pumpkin Decorating Contest & Silent Auction
• Outdoor Vintage Carnival Games (with prizes!)
• A visit to our SEES Pumpkin Patch ($3 each)
• Spooky Bingo! and other classroom activities
• Krispy Kreme Donuts (students with allergies should bring a fun treat from home to enjoy!) ($1 each)
• BooGrams to Students & Teachers ($1 each)

Pumpkins, Donuts and BooGrams. While we are asking parents to help defer the costs of this event by purchasing a pumpkin and donut for each of their students, we will ensure that every student receives a pumpkin and a donut. Additionally, we will ensure that the students who did not receive a BooGram from a friend or family member will receive one during this event. Please order BooGrams by October 28, 2020.

Donations for event items. We are asking families to assist with donating items for this event. We have created a Halloween Carnival Wish List on Amazon detailing the items that we need. Items include:

• carnival games
• prizes
• nut-free candy
• individual bags/baggies

Please note that you can also purchase these items on your own. Items from the wish list can be shipped directly to the school. Items that are purchased separately can be dropped off in the front office NO LATER THAN Tuesday, October 27, 2020.
