Partners in Education Peer Tutoring Program Begins at SEES
Date Posted: Wednesday, 21st February 2018

We are excited to announce the Partners in Education (PIE) program, a new peer tutoring program designed by a SEES 7th grade student.

What is PIE?
PIE is a peer-led tutoring program available to students in Grades 1 through 5. Peer tutoring services are offered immediately after school and include homework and/or project assistance or review of subjects/materials that students may need reinforced.

Who are the tutors?
Middle school students (Grades 6 through 8).

Where will tutoring take place?
Students will be tutored in the 3rd grade classrooms.

When will my child receive tutoring services?
Students will choose to stay after school either one or two days per week (Monday through Thursday).

How does my child sign up?
Students in Grades 1 through 5 are recommended for tutoring services by their teacher. Please note that recommendations are suggestive only and no one is required to participate.

Interested in being a tutor?
Students in Grades 6 through 8 can either be recommended by their teachers or can volunteer themselves to serve as a tutor. Students must have a demonstrated mastery of the subject with which they will be assisting students. Tutors can choose to earn merits or volunteer hours.

Read Across America Day is March 2
Date Posted: Tuesday, 20th February 2018

Friday, March 2 is the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day. SEES students will share their love of reading by dressing up as their favorite book characters. It is so much fun seeing these characters come to life in our school!

The SEES Media Center will celebrate during this week with “Question of the Day” trivia contests, and a chance to guess the number of goldfish in a jar. On Friday, Benedictine College Preparatory cadets and SEES middle school students will read to our younger grades.
