Parent Involvement Hours

Mandatory Parent Involvement Hours (PIH) will return with the 2024-2025 School Year. Below please find helpful information about PIH:

Parental Involvement Program

St. Edward-Epiphany School is proud to have strong support from our families through volunteer hours. Many of our programs would only be possible with this assistance. In the past, we have required 15 volunteer hours per family per school year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this requirement was suspended and no hours were tracked. For the school year 2024-2025, we are pleased to return to our Parent Involvement Program, with 10 volunteer hours required per family. These hours can be completed by any adult in the family, including grandparents. Studies have shown that parental involvement at school increases a child’s potential for success.

The Parental Involvement Program serves three purposes:
• Engaging parents at school
• Creating a strong sense of community among our families
• Keeping school expenditures down and tuition increases at a minimum

There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. Some examples:
• Lunch volunteer
• Mystery Reader
• Class Parent
• Class parties
• Field trip chaperone
• Library volunteer
• Art volunteer
• Advent Reflection
• Art and Music Festival
• Olympics
• Fall Festival
• Secret Santa Breakfast/Shop
• Golf Tournament
• Gala
• Spring Fundraiser
• 8th grade luncheon and dance
• Coaching
• School Advisory Board
• Finance Committee
• HSA Representative

Opportunity to sign up for these hours will be sent throughout the school year. Please note that any volunteer must take Virtus training in order to comply with our Safe Environment regulations. More information is available at www.virtusonline.org. Hours worked will be reported by each family through FACTS Family Portal. We treasure each family’s participation. Should you be unable to work your hours, an opt-out option is available on the contract for $300. Any unfulfilled hours will be billed at the end of the school year at the rate of $30 per uncompleted hour. More information will be provided at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.

Altar Server Training May 14

Hello 3rd-8th grade families! Is your son or daughter looking for a fun way to serve their church and school community? If so, we would love to have them join our altar serving team!

Andrew McCarthy (youth minister at St. Edward) will be holding a training for new altar servers on Tuesday, May 14 at 8am. If your student is interested in becoming an altar server, please sign them up for this training by filling out this Google form. A list of students attending this training will be shared with homeroom teachers so students will not be marked tardy or absent, and they will return to class as soon as the training is over (before classes head to Mass).

Please let Rachel Franklin ([email protected]) or Andrew ([email protected]) know if you have any questions.
