Solar Eclipse and Early Dismissal 4/8/2024!

On Monday, April 8, 2024 a total solar eclipse will trace a path across several US states. Richmonders can view it between 2-4pm and will experience peak coverage between 3:10 and 3:25pm. We don’t want anyone “blinded by the light,” so the administration will be providing each student with special glasses which will be distributed at end of that day by each homeroom teacher. We can experience this “once in a blue moon” opportunity together with an early release at 2:30pm.

Here are two choices to experience the eclipse.

1. Pick up your student(s) at 2;30 pm in carpool or singles, per usual. Then the back parking lot will have a designated area for parking and viewing with members of the school community, students and their families. All students must have family supervision to attend.

OR

2. Pick up your student(s) per regular car line at 2:30 pm and go home with the safety glasses.

All students staying for daycare will be joining our group on back parking lot with their safety glasses at designated time along with daycare staff.

DISCLAIMER: WE ASK EACH FAMILY TO REMIND THEIR STUDENT OF THE IMPORTANCE OF WEARING THESE GLASSES DURING THE WHOLE EVENT TO PREVENT ANY ISSUES.

For those families staying there might be a themed play list “eclipsing” all your expectations. We hope you enjoy this major astronomical event with us and/or your family.

A “total eclipse of the heart” from all of our science teachers to you.

Any questions, please call the front office.
