Sacraments

Because SEES is a REGIONAL SCHOOL and students belong to 1 of the 6 parishes which feed into SEES, the students prepare for and receive sacraments through their individual parishes.  However, religion teachers at SEES focus on the sacraments that their students are preparing for that school year and emphasize their importance.

First Communion

4th grade sponsors a celebration and liturgy for students who have received First Eucharist. The 4th grade students make rosaries and present them to the first communicants. Afterwards, 4th grade families host a brunch for the first communicants and their families in the St. Edward Church Commons.

Reconciliation

Students attend reconciliation services throughout the school year at St. Edward Church and have an opportunity for individual reconciliation afterwards.  Religion teachers help prepare the students by leading them through an examination of conscience before the service.

Other Sacraments

Naturally, all of the sacraments are discussed in religion classes.  Parish priests and seminarians are invited to talk to the religion classes about the sacrament of holy orders.  Often, students mention that their siblings have received baptism or confirmation recently and this presents an opportunity for religion teachers to tie in these sacraments to their lesson plan.
