FROM THE PRINCIPAL

After the battering weather we endured at St. Edward-Epiphany Catholic School this past winter, spring is truly a time of renewal for all. The breezes of this season feel like a new beginning for our entire community!

Students and teachers alike have been busy with lofty endeavors and good works this second half of our year. Each class continues its community service work through varied outreach programs, and the student body, led by the Class of 2010, raised $2,227.09 in combined contributions for Haiti Relief this spring!

The third grade hosted a wonderful African-American History month program in February. Each student portrayed an African-American who made strides in the Civil Rights movement through performances of “book reports in action.”

Our teachers will choose a new math series for the 2010-2011 year, and they continue to research which curriculum will best serve their students. Kindergarten through third grade instructors also continue their work on an exciting new Advanced Enrichment program for the fall of 2010, for students who qualify for advanced learning opportunities.

In other exciting School news, the H.S.A. hosted a hugely successful “SEES in the Sand” fundraising auction in March, which raised over $40,000. Scores of parents and School friends turned out to support the auction, and the monies raised will go toward H.S.A’s yearly contribution to the School, with any budget overage directed toward building our new and improved athletic fields, currently in their preliminary planning stage.

The 50th Anniversary Committee has added many members to its efforts, which build as we approach this exciting milestone, just around the corner in 2011 and 2012! The Annual Fund continues to grow, and it is with your help that our Development program expands its outreach to our treasured alumni and community.

As the beautiful spring weather warms our hearts, may we join together in a wonderful conclusion of another successful and enjoyable school year. We wish all of you a relaxing, safe and restorative summer!
