FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Our 2009-2010 school year started with a bang, as the Third Annual Eagle 5K Challenge returned bigger than ever. This year’s Challenge raised over $21,000 in sponsorships and participation…a new record far beyond previous years. The 5K and the Fall Festival also brought together parents, students, faculty, friends, and alumni in a spirit of community and fellowship as we enjoyed the day together in celebration.
In other exciting School news, we were dazzled by the Class of 2009’s overwhelming participation in the Annual Fund for Excellence. Forty-three families made contributions in honor of their graduates, and the Class of 2010 will again focus on 100 percent participation in this commemorative initiative.
It’s amazing to believe that St. Edward-Epiphany Catholic School will celebrate 50 years of Catholic education in 2011-2012! A Task Force has been established to plan all events and details from start to finish for this grand, year-long celebration. St. Edward-Epiphany graduates Liz Gill and Lisa Hale, along with Leslie Winder, will coordinate the Task Force, and other parents and alumni will also participate in this exciting process.
St. Edward-Epiphany students are very excited to join with the rest of the schools in our Diocese as we pray for Church leaders in this Year of the Priests. Every school morning, we read various priests’ names during our opening school prayer so that we may offer prayers for them as a community. Also this year, Father Kevin O’Brien from Saint Edward Church will teach special topics of theology and scripture once a month to our eighth graders.
Our School’s 2009-10 theme, “Seek Truth, Make Peace, Reverence Life,” guides our students, faculty and staff as they make choices each day. As the days turn crisp and cool, our hallways ring with the sweet voices of children and their teachers as we learn and live together.
We look forward to another wonderful year at St. Edward-Epiphany, as we reach new and exciting goals together!
